[pocket-linux] GRUB Error 16

Tom:

First, I created Pocket-Linux from GRUB using SuSE8.2 so it is very
unlikely the GRUB files are the cause of the problem.

GRUB Error 16 comes from a "device string unrecognizable" error. First I
would repeat the process with another floppy as floppies are prone to
physical errors. Or perhaps there was a typo, which cause me
considerable grief. In the /grub directory I would look at the
device.map file to be certain GRUB and the BIOS agree on the floppy
disk drive. There should be a line: (fd0) /dev/fd0
In my device.map file the above is the first line, followed by the line:
(hd0) /dev/hda

I doubt if the (hd0) /dev/hda line is relevant, but the (fd0) /dev/
hd0 line may need to be first.

If none of the above solves the problem, we can go through the contents
of your bootdisk.

Regards, Rick
